Your Coffee Subscription – June 2020
Dear Coffee Subscribers,
It has been a couple of interesting months to say the least. Here in Norway things are gradually starting to open up after the Corona virus lockdown. But it does not mean that society is back to what it once was, if it ever will be. Our espresso bar and roastery are doing ok, much thanks to all our subscribers and loyal customers. Thank you for the support, it really means a lot to us.
Because of these uncertain times we have had reduced capacity both in our shop, office and in the roastery. We have also faced a huge challenge with a lot of mail not being delivered or being delivered extremely late. We are receiving hundreds of emails from customers waiting for their coffees from all over the world and to be honest we are really struggeling trying to answer everyone as fast as we can. We are really sorry for not being able to respond as promptly as we normally would do. Ben and I are working long days trying to get on top of things.
Shipments delayed Because of Corona
We have seen that shipping to countries outside of Norway can take up to 6 -7 weeks. Although we are not concerned about the quality of the coffee as we do flush our bags with Nitrogen gas before they are vacuum sealed, we do understand how frustrating it can be to wait for coffee that never seem to arrive.
- If you have not received your april shipments, please contact us straight away.
- If your May subscriptions have not been delivered by mid June, then please get in touch as well.
Shipments within Norway should take about 2-5 working days.
Shipments outside Norway can take anywhere from 2-7 weeks unfortunately.
Now, here is what you have can expect in your mail box (eventually) this month:
I have selected two coffees, the first one and the one that goes out to all our subscribers is the infamous Bourbon from Finca Nacimiento produced by Jobneel Caceres Dios in Honduras. As this is one of my favourite coffees, our 3-bag subscribers will be getting two bags of this delicious coffee. The second coffee which goes out to our 2- and 3-bag subscribers is a Caturra and Variedad Colombia selection from Elias Roa’s farm Finca Tamana in Colombia.
Nacimiento Bourbon 1& 3 bags
Flavour notes: Winey, forest berries & cherries
Producer: Jobneel Caceres Dios
Harvest: May 2019
Origin: El Cielito, Santa Barbara, Honduras
Two years ago Jobneel stumped most of his old Bourbon trees in order to renew his trees (they grow back and produce more, so this is done every 5-7 years.) This is why there was very little Bourbon produced on his farm last year, but still we managed to buy a small lot. This coffee is from quite old Bourbon trees and it has consistently been one of the best tasting coffees from Nacimiento (and one of my all time favourite coffees.) It has a typical fruitiness you can find in the best Bourbon coffees from Central-America, with loads of very ripe red berry flavours with hints of stone fruit and mango.
Finca Tamana 2 bags
Flavour notes: Brown sugar, caramel & red fruits
Producer: Elias Roa
Harvest: July 2019
Origin: El Pital, Huila, Colombia
Cultivar: Caturra & Variedad Colombia
This is the very best selection of the Caturra and Variedad Colombia coffees from the main harvest in 2019 from Finca Tamana.
Last years harvest was really good. The trees were yielding well and also had a very uniform ripening during the peak of the harvest which meant is tas easy to pick only ripe cherries.
As always I tasted my way through every single picking / batch that Elias produced and I normally put together lots that score similar and that are harvested in the same period of time.
The coffees in this particular lot came from the end of the peak of the harvest and they all scored higher than the rest showing a bit more intensity and fruitiness in the cup.
Thanks for reading and as always, we hope you enjoy the coffees and learning from our monthly videos. If you need some brewing tips, visit our website.
