We are excited to be co-hosting the 2018 Norwegian AeroPress Championship at Tøyengata 29C, the new home of our roastery in the Tøyen neighborhood of Oslo, along with our friends and building-mates Nordic Approach (specialty coffee importers). This Norwegian AeroPress Championship represents the 10th Anniversary of the World AeroPress Championship event. The first ever competition was hosted by us in our Grünerløkka shop in 2008. This event is not only celebrating its 10th Anniversary, but also its homecoming. We wish to create a super inclusive event with strong emphasis on the great coffee culture in Oslo. The World AeroPress Championship is a global coffee-making competition, designed to find the world’s best cup of AeroPress coffee. A series of regional and national competitions, run by independent hosts across 60 countries culminate with the World AeroPress Championship final. Preceeding our Norwegian AeroPress Championship will be a regional championship in Trondheim. Please join us and come to the event as a spectator!
Let’s get into the details of the day. AeroPress is a very simple way of making one cup of excellent coffee. It’s the method we have been using at our shop for 10 years. We’ve made several hundred thousands of coffees with the device. AeroPress competitions are a super fun way to find the best cup in an atmosphere that will be a mix of long-time coffee pros and other coffee lovers from around Oslo. Ours will be a true coffee fest including new product demos, coffee samples, free coffee, fun giveaways, prizes and snacks. You can expect to taste great coffees and see new coffee products in action. Our co-hosts, Nordic Approach, together with our building mates Roest are doing a “roast your own coffee” that people can take home with them (100 grams each, roasted on Roest sample roasters). We will have espresso and filter coffee drinks by Solberg & Hansen, Oslo Cold Brew, Kaffa, Fuglen, Stockfleths, Tim Wendelboe, PALA. Tasty food from Handwerk, and Illebrød. Demos from Wilfa, and SteepShot. Goody bags including coffee from: Kaffa, Lippe, Supreme Roastworks, Oslo Cold Brew, PALA, Tim Wendelboe
AeroPress comes from Palo Alto, California. The W.A.C. HQ is in Melbourne, Australia. And, the beans come from all over. It’s the Norwegian Championship, but it’s a global affair. The Norwegian competition winner gets kr 15.000,- in prize money to cover the expenses for a trip to the November 2018 World Aeropress Champion in Sydney, where he/she will compete for the World Title.
