Tim Wendelboe wins the 2017 Nordic Roaster Competition

We are so happy to have won the 2017 Nordic Roaster Competition with the Typica coffee from Elias Roa and Finca Tamana. I planted the Typica seeds together with Elias 4 years ago and we managed to harvest only 20 kg of green coffee this year due to the trees being hit by leaf rust. We were able to roast just one batch of this coffee as we always roast 12 kg in our old Probat. Thankfully it tasted so great that we managed to place 2nd in the Washed Colombian coffee category. We also placed 2nd in the compulsory round but managed to get the highest average score which means we won the Nordic roaster title for the 3rd year in a row and the 6th time total.

A huge thanks to our team who are working so hard every day to make sure our coffees are always improving. Thank you Elias for producing such excellent coffees and Diego Campos for helping out with the harvest and processing. Can’t wait to celebrate with you guys next week on the farm.

Also a huge congratulations to the roasters I admire so much – DaMatteo Coffee for winning the compulsory category and Solberg & Hansen for winning the Washed Colombian coffee category with a stellar coffee! We have a bit left of the Typica from Tamana and will be serving it tomorrow in our bar. Hopefully next year we can harvest some more if it. Salud!
