Badnekhan Estate

Badnekhan Estate is located in Karnataka in Chikmagalur in India and has won the Flavour of India, The Fine Cup Award several times. This farm has consistently shown that they are able to produce great coffee and for the 2nd year in a row this is the coffee that stood out for us while we were searching for Indian coffees.
The coffee is grown under natural forests which helps protect the fauna and wild life in the area.

Harvest: February 2009
Origin: Karnataka, Chikmagalur, India.
Growing conditions: 1100 – 1400 m.a.s. Natural shade grown.
Farm size: 11300 coffee trees, whereas 3000 of them are SLn9 variety.
Botanical variety: SLn 9
Process: Washed and fermented. First dried in mechanical dryers, then sundried at drying beds and last drying is on patio. Beans are packed in burlap for transportation.

Taste description:
Aroma: Smell of cocoa, nuts and cedar wood.
Acidity: Low acidity. The coffee is more chocolaty as opposed to fruity.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied and clean. Intense and long sweet aftertaste.
Flavour: A very clean Indian coffee with tastes of chocolate and nuts. The rich sweetness gives associations to quality dark chocolate with a hint of dried fruits.
