Hacienda la Esmeralda
Hacienda la Esmeralda is the name of the plantation who are producing the worlds most expensive coffee sold on an internet auction. With a ground breaking price record of USD 170,20 per. lb (453g) that was achieved on the 2010 Best of panama Auction, you may wonder if this coffee is really worth the money? We will leave that for you to decide, but this coffee has won several awards around the world and also won 1st place in every Best of Panama competition that they have entered since the very beginning in 2004.
Fortunately we got to buy a small lot of 130 kg of this wonderful coffee at the Esmeralda Special Auction 2010 where all the coffee from this farm is sold to the highest bidders. Mario San José is the name of the lot we bought for USD 26,5 per lb. This particular coffee was picked at the end of the season in March. We decided to airfreight the coffee to Norway to ensure that we are able to enjoy this coffee when it is at it’s best.
