International shipping

Wednesday, May 1st, 2013

We are very excited to announce that as of today, 1 May 2013, Tim Wendelboe offers international shipping. Since opening our doors in 2007, we have consistently been asked to ship our coffees overseas. Until recently this was not possible, as we didn’t have an affordable and consistent shipping partner to deliver coffees on time and for a reasonable cost. We are committed to delivering the best possible coffee to our customers, so shipping and customs delays were a deal breaker for us.

International orders are sent once a week. Orders placed by midnight (GMT)+1 on Tuesday will be roasted on Wednesday and ship on Thursday. Shipping will take between one and two business days within Europe and two to four days to the rest of the world.

The whole team can’t wait to share our coffees with friends and new customers around the world. The current staff favorites are Finca Tamana from Huila, Colombia and the newly arrived Tekangu from Nyeri, Kenya that will be released on Tuesday the 7th of May. (You can pre-order the coffee in the web shop this week)

I returned from a trip to Finca Tamana earlier this week and can attest that our partnership with this farm is continuing to produce benefits for both the farmers and our customers. Tekangu flew off the shelves last year and we expect it to do the same in 2013 . Our work with the Tekangu Cooperative Society has also resulted in quality improvements, most notably from the introduction of new drying tables funded by Tim Wendelboe customers in 2010.

There are also other spectacular coffees coming in soon from El Salvador, Ethiopia and Honduras.

We have exciting offerings planned for the webshop, so please check back for new coffees and packages.

You can also follow Tim Wendelboe on Instagram and Twitter.

Hunkute

Tuesday, October 30th, 2012

Hunkute returns to Tim Wendelboe this week; both as an espresso roast and a filter roast.

The cup profile is very citric and reminiscent of limoncello with delicate jasmine notes. We think this is a result of both the high altitudes in which the coffee is grown, as well as the many local coffee tree varieties that the smallholder farmers grow who make up the Hunkute Co-op in the Sidamo region of Ethiopia.

It’s worth noting the Hunkute is organic by default, though not certified. Chemical fertilisers and the like are not required in the cultivation of the local heirloom varietals, which leaves only the natural characteristics of the terroir and varietal in the cup.

Both the Espresso roast and the filter roasts are available from today in store and on the webshop. It’s also your last chance to taste the Los Cipreses from the Caballeros.

Here is an interview about Ethiopian coffee we produced with Morten Wennersgaard from our sister company Nordic Approach and Kennedy Keya from Dormans in Kenya. This was filmed while we were in Addis Ababa during the harvest in 2011:

  • The Michiti from west-Ethiopia is already for sale in our store.
  • A new lot from the 2011/12 harvest from the Tekangu co-op in Kenya will be roasted on Tuesday.

All coffees will be available from Tuesday afternoon and can be bought in our store and in our webshop.

VST Precision Filter Basket

Friday, July 15th, 2011

Finally they have arrived.
We ordered a bunch of VST Precision Filter Baskets a while ago and they arrived this week. You can now buy them in our store or in our webshop.

We strongly recommend to use the new VST filterbaskets. Both the 18g basket and the 22g basket is great for our coffee.
The VST filters makes it a lot easier to extract the espresso properly which gives a lot more sweetness in the cup. They are also more or less identical to eachother which makes it easy to be more consistent when brewing on several groups at the same time.

Make sure they fit your machine. (Fits all La Marzocco and Synesso machines)

San Antonio Espresso’d

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

We have roasted the wonderful San Antonio from Guatemala as espresso, to replace the Finca La Milagrosa as our single origin espresso. The San Antonio is currently a small percentage of the Tim Wendelboe Espresso blend, but is now available all by itself.

As an espresso, it has deep flavours of forrest berries, orange zest and cocoa. Firm, red wine acidity with cocoa sweetness. A rich mouthfeel and delicate tannins in the finish. More information on the coffee can be found here. And it can be purchased from our webshop.

Oda from Kaffemisjonen in Bergen, used it for her 2010 back to back Norwegian Barista Championship win over the weekend.
