Due to limited capacity during weekends we have decided to open up our cupping room during Saturdays and Sundays for brewing black coffee to our guests. This way we are able to serve those of you who only want a black coffee while visiting our store. We know how frustrating it is to stand in line sometimes and hopefully our cupping room brew bar will help things move a bit quicker.

The brew bar will only be open during weekends and we will be serving our full Aeropress menu. In addition you will be able to pay for whole bean coffee, books, etc. Of course we invite you also to come and hang out to ask us questions. The Cupping room was made to teach our customers about coffee, and most likely the person working there will have time to answer and help you become a better home barista.

If you want your cappuccino and latte, you still need to order them in our espresso bar, but hopefully the line will not be as long as before.

The Brew bar will be open for the first time on Saturday the 3rd and Sunday the 4th of December from around 12 o’clock. We will be serving some new lots from both the Caballero family and a new Bourbon from Nacimiento.

We have once again tasted soy milk in our coffees and have come to the conclusion to stop offering soy milk in our drinks.

The main reason for this is that we really don’t like the flavour of it. It is very difficult to get a nice coffee flavour in soy milk and the better ones are too sweet and grainy on the palate.

Another very good reason to stop offering soy milk is that a lot of soy milk comes from genetically modified (GMO) soy beans. We are fully against GMO as it can cause biological damage not only to soy beans but also to other plants as cross pollination is impossible to control. To understand more about how GMO works, just watch the documentary films ” The Future of food” and “Food INC”.

A healthy alternative to soy based drinks is black coffee. We prepare all our coffees to order on an Aeropress in our bar. It is not only healthy, but also very tasty.

We have also developed a TW 0% Irish Coffee. It is basically a cold coffee served on ice with delicious cold milk foam on top. Tastes like an Irish coffee but there is no alcohol involved.

More drinks to be launched soon.

This christmas we will be offering some rarities on sale.

1. TW KeepCup with a coffee of choice for Kr. 95,-
The KeepCup is made of plastic and is reuseable. Very handy for the thirsty traveller in the car or on a tram ride. It is also available on the Webshop.

2. Cascara. Kr. 59,- per 150g
We have 25 bags of dried coffee pulp, produced by our friend Ms. Aida Battle at her farm Kilimanjaro in El Salvador.
The Cascara is brewed and drunk like a fruit tea and it contains a bit more caffeine than normal coffee. It tastes a lot like rose hips, tobacco and raisins and is a delicious drink in the cold Norwegian winter day. Cascara will only be for sale in our store.

3. The Norwegian version of the book “Kaffe med Tim Wendelboe” will be on sale for Kr. 199,- in our store and on our web-shop.

4. Hacienda La Esmeralda. Kr. 215,- per 250g
Many of you remember this fantastic coffee from Panama. Well we saved 6 kilos for christmas, so we will roast the last batch on tuesday the 21st of December. This coffee will only be for sale in our store.

5. TW Christmas Espresso
Like last year we have decided to make a limited edition Christmas Espresso Blend.
We will only be selling 500 kg of the blend starting from Tuesday the 30th of November, it is also now available on our Webshop for Norwegian customers.

The blend consists of:
75% Tekangu, Kenya
25% Primavera, Brazil

Flavour profile:
Intense aromas of berry and marzipan.
Lively acidity, intense flavours of black currants and rose hips.
Short finish with hints of milk chocolate and marzipan.

It has been 3 years since we first opened our doors here at Tim Wendelboe, and I have to admit that so far, it has been a magical journey. I really did not expect te business to be such a success after only 3 years. I would like to send out a huge thank you, to all our customers that have supported us over our first 3 years. We have managed to do a lot of great stuff together, and we are planning for a lot more in the future.

A special thanks to all of you who visited us on Saturday and donated money for our “Tekangu drying table project.”

We had some very generous customers that payed over NOK 1.000,- for a cup of coffee (USD 155,-) . I believe that is the most expensive cup of coffee ever sold in Norway and probably the world. I am sure the farmers at the Tekangu co-op are very greatful for your generosity.

Also a huge thanks to Mette Mortensen for the beautiful flowers, to Anders Valde for his contribution and gift and also to Solberg and Hansen for supplying us with sparkling wine for the celebration.

You are probably wondering how much money we were able to raise on Saturday?

We managed to raise NOK 19.000,- (USD 2.920.) All this money will go to the drying table project. Dormans, our exporter in Kenya has donated USD 500,- so that means we are only about USD 1500,- away from our goal of USD 5000,-

We will also be collecting money for the project through our Kenyan coffee sales this week. 50% of what we get in will go to the project. So, if you need coffee, please buy Kenyan coffee this week.

Thank you all again for your fantastic contribution!

Tim W
