New coffees for sale

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

We have some exiting new coffees for sale this week.
After a lot of waiting, both the Kenyan coffees we sourced in January are for sale. Also an exciting sweet bourbon from Finca Santa Ana, Guatemala is ready for sale.

There is also a new TW espresso blend that is quite different from the last 3 blends we have had. The new blend is very potent with a lot of fruity flavours and winey acidity.

For more info, go to our resource page and click on “our coffees” in the left menu.

Hope you like it.

Thursday 13th May & NRK

Did we all see the Norwegian Barista Champion, Oda Misje Haug on NRK1 yesterday…

By the way, we are open on Thursday… perhaps a re-constructed Shakerato?

San Antonio Espresso’d

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

We have roasted the wonderful San Antonio from Guatemala as espresso, to replace the Finca La Milagrosa as our single origin espresso. The San Antonio is currently a small percentage of the Tim Wendelboe Espresso blend, but is now available all by itself.

As an espresso, it has deep flavours of forrest berries, orange zest and cocoa. Firm, red wine acidity with cocoa sweetness. A rich mouthfeel and delicate tannins in the finish. More information on the coffee can be found here. And it can be purchased from our webshop.

Oda from Kaffemisjonen in Bergen, used it for her 2010 back to back Norwegian Barista Championship win over the weekend.

Guatemala Cup of Excellence

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

We are proud to announce that we just bought the no. 11 lot at the 2009 Guatemala Cup of Excellence.

The coffee is grown on the farm San Antonio De Esquipulas y Anexos and is a mix of Bourbón, Catuaí and Caturra.

Here is a taste description:

Aroma: Hints of almonds and chocolate.
Acidity: Tropical and stone fruit-like acidity. Lively and refreshing.
Mouthfeel: A clean cup with a fat texture without being heavy. Intense sweetness and a really nice balance.
Flavour: Intense chocolate flavour. Hints of rasberries and peach. Sweet finish.

The coffee was bought for USD 7.45 per lb. (453g) of green unpacked coffee ex. transportation cost. This is about USD 6.19 above fair trade price. The farmer gets 80% of the money, the remaining 20% goes to managing the Cup of Excellence system.
